Caljan introduces AutoUnloader for Trailers

To address the challenges of workforce shortages and the increasing demand for higher efficiency in transportation and logistics, Caljan, a global leader in telescopic conveyors, has expanded its product portfolio with a unique no-touch AutoUnloader for trailers. With this addition, the company now covers the entire spectrum of automatic loading and unloading solutions for loose loaded goods.

“To demonstrate our unwavering commitment to advancing automated product development, we have made significant investments in establishing a new division dedicated to this focus. This strategic move underscores our belief in the transformative potential of automation and our dedication to pioneering innovative solutions in this field,” says Derek Wright VP of Global Sales and Marketing at Caljan.

Manual lifting also has an impact on workspace ergonomics and safety. The operator has to lift and place each parcel on the conveyor, which is a physically demanding process as parcels can weigh up to 31.5 kilograms. On average, there are over thousands of parcels per trailer, meaning the operator must move several tons per shift. Over time, this can lead to health issues and injuries.

"Fully automated loading and unloading processes not only reduce the physical workload and allow the workers to focus on other tasks with high business impact but also increase overall productivity. Our tests show our automated solutions can unload around 5000 parcels per hour, which is six times faster than manual unloading, enabling parcel companies and retailers to meet the demand for faster deliveries and ensure a gentle unloading process," explains Matthias Fritz, Automated Products Manager at Caljan.

The Caljan AutoUnloader for trailers provides a no touch automated trailer unloading process. The AutoUnloader can be integrated with additional take away belt conveyors and singulators for fully automated product control. An automatic docking and undocking procedure provide a safe and secure application on the dock. Sensor controlled parcel flow, integrated into a larger system result in an uninterrupted operation with significantly reduced unloading times and optimised space utilisation versus traditional manual unloading methods.
